  • Workshop Station

    Use Fraction Ball as one station in your math workshop rotation. 6-8 students on the mat while other groups work independently or with you. Rotate every 15-20 minutes.

  • Full-Class Game Day

    Unroll the mat and play with your whole class. Teams of 4-5. A full game runs 20-30 minutes.

  • Intervention Small Group

    Pull 4-6 struggling students for targeted fraction practice. The game keeps them engaged. The movement helps them focus.

What you'll need to get started

The Fraction Ball Mat includes everything you need for the curriculum—activity guides, quick-start cards, and LMS access. For gameplay, you just need a target and a soft ball. Most teachers already have these in their classrooms!

  • 1. The Target

    Any over-the-door mini hoop, wall hoop, or even a simple wastebasket works perfectly. Just place it 2–3 feet from the mat to create the right shooting arc.

    • Popular options: A classic Nerf Nerfoop, any mini hoop, or a standard classroom recycling bin (free and already there!).

  • 2. The Ball

    A soft foam ball or a beanbag works best. If you use a mini-hoop kit, a foam ball is usually included. (No basketballs required!)
